Kata Matthaion According to Matthew Comentary

Chapter 1-7 Wisdom

Chapter One

Kata Matthaion: According To Matthew

Within most Bibles there are small segments before each book that gives us some kind of insight into the particular book. Most of the time it is only small look into the writer and to whom he or she was writing to. Within reference bibles their a little more detailed, that usually deals with some type of facts that most of us usually do not read. These facts given are the writer for which presented forth that particular translation of the letter or book. A group of collective information that is disregarded by some, others look upon it as part of the Bible itself. Some believe that the information printed within the pages is all God’s words that were inspired. Interesting, others just simply do not care, and pass over them as if they are not even there. What would be the correct response to the information listed through out some Bibles? Is those words written by the inspiration of God, by the prophets or Apostles. Or did God inspire the different people, or organizations to add this information. This is an interesting question because it has many possibilities to what is seemingly impossible to answer. Why, because those that added the information we have know way of meeting them or any contact with them. It is almost like they are some mystical person that had only purpose in this life is to write those things. And the most difficult part to believe is that someone like you and I might have wrote that information before each book, and who is to say that it is right. They were only human they make mistakes like you and I.   Maybe you never even thought of it period. And now is the first time you even had it on your mind or some one even mentioned it. What would be your reasoning for your answer? Or better yet what would it matter anyway, when is the subject going to come up again? For some of us these type of questions can be stumbling blocks, because the enemy can use them against us. For some we just simply don’t care one way or another. Fro others it is a win win situation because it forces us to dig deeper into the word. This is to test the information given unto us. And in return gather more information to better understand the word of God. Which one is you, interesting? Probably the most thought about at this moment is; “What difference do it makes?” Most of these questions will be answered in some shape form. But here is a major det to start you forming answers for yourself. What if there was a particular reason for which God allowed certain information to be passed along. What if that information was the natural key that unlocked supernatural understanding for spiritual growth that manifests itself in the physical. In simple terms what if all the information gathered would build you to the person you wanted? What if it takes natural gathering to unlock supernatural growing, which would inspire and create you that you suppose to be? This particular method of writing will target such thoughts. As well as create more, and challenge each of us to do more, seek more, and study more.   For me to leave some of those questions unanswered would be wrong. Fro the pages of God’s word entitled the Holy bible it is all inspired by God for the edifying of the Body of Christ. I do not believe that the respectful writers wrote the information that is placed before each book in some Bibles. I do how ever believe God inspired some one or some organization to add information to better guide us, as God’s people to one united understanding. I believe all the information is very important as well as in some case is necessary for knowledge and truth. Most information tries to increase out knowledge about the period for which the writer is in. Then to better teach us about today using the entire situations and circumstances. I know that is a little hard to grasp at one time. Or maybe for some of you it si just hard to get now, but I will tell you by the time you reached the end God will have increased you. For now I would like for you to take this journey into the making of the Apostle Matthew to have a clearer and better picture of yourself. What better way to see yourself in another.   You see the Apostle Matthew was very important to the spreading and sharing of the Gospel. For which we know that one definition of Gospel is; “Good News”; But here is a few more; glad tiding; the revelation of the Christian faith; story of Christ’s life and found in the first four books of the New Testament; doctrine; belief accepted as infallibly true; a pert, or in accordance with, the gospel. (New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus) (Here is the definition of revelation and interpretation. Revelation; act of revealing; God’s disclosure of himself to man. Interpretation; (root word interpret; to explain the meaning of; to put a construction on; to translate orally for the benefit of others; act of interpreting;; translation; meaning artist’s version of a dramatic part or musical composition; “Both words researched in the New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus”) For God almighty himself, Jesus Christ looked upon him and chosen him. Matthew the Apostle of Jesus Christ has a lot ot teach us about ourselves as well as how he express Christ, Jesus. We will not be able to express everything. I do not believe I could. But I know that our revelation will come straight from Christ Jesus as we are being shown the mindset of the Apostle Matthew.   Within some Bibles you might have a little section to describe the book of Matthew. Which might read as so; Matthew is the gospel written by a Jew to Jews about a Jew. Matthew is the writer, his countrymen are the readers, and Jesus Christ is the subject. Matthew’s design is to present Jesus as the King of the Jews, the long awaited Messiah. Through a carefully selected series of Old Testament quotations genealogy, baptism, messages, and miracles all point to the same inescapable conclusion; Christ is King. Even in His death, seeming defeat is turned to victory by the Resurrection, and the message again echoes forth; the King of the Jews Lives.   At an early date this gospel was given the title Kata Matthaion, “According to Matthew” is what that meant. As this title suggests other gospel accounts were known at that time; (the word “Gospel” was added later) Matthew (Gift of the Lord”) was also surnamed Levi (Mark 2:14, Luke 5:27) the Bible for which I am using for scripture reference is King James Version Nelson Regency 88IC Edition. Some other bibles might have some what the same wording or meaning. Some might not even agree with each other, but right now let’s just take time to ask a question. Is that enough for you to understand the writer’s mindset. Is it enough to set yourself inside him and see what he is seeing, or feel what he feels. Would it be enough for you to understand why he wrote in such a manner? Would it even be enough for you to appreciate the total magnitude of the tremendous impact of the Book of Matthew?   Why was the Apostle Matthew able to write in such a manner that projected Christ as King of the Jews? Why was it necessary for him to use the writings of the Old Testament to confirm his belief? Would it be even understandable for you and I to grasp the reality of Matthew mindset to impact our ability to better magnify our Lord and Savior? Just suppose in searching the scriptures reveals the intertwining of Matthew gives us the ability to better see the strong hold of the enemy attack in our own life. What magnitude of change this type of knowledge would demand from our own life. How wonderful the deity of Christ Jesus would be impacted on the Body of Christ. Was the Apostle Matthew chosen because he had something no one else could have or never will have again. Could it be said that Matthew’s mindset would release a spiritual break through in our own lives, that the enemy would do all it could to stop us from that revelation.   What if we as Christains, treated our adversary for what it truly is, instead of treating the romance after the attack. For example, we know there are many mental disorders, but instead of treating the disorder we treat the systems as they come up. Would we help the person more by treating what the disorder does to them or treat the disorder? Let’s put it into more simple biblical terms, we know that we are sinners, The Bible says: Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. (Romans 5:12) So we know that we all are sinners and because of that there was a law imputed by God that death is the punishment for such an act. The Bible says; (For until the law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figured of him that was to come. But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if Through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift; for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which received abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) (Romans 5:13-17)   Now for which is for all of us, sin, because of one righteousness is given for all, so it could be perceived that if one was stronger than the other. That the stronger defeated the weaker, that the weaker should not exist no more. That could be a notion especially if we are looking for a way to deceive ourselves, so we can continually doing what we want. But within God’s wisdom he revealed this same thought pattern unto the writer. You see Paul was writing to the Romans and was open to the spiritual connection to God that manifested itself in a physical elevation. To be able to see within himself through the power of Christ knowledge the deception that the enemy portrayed upon him. So the Bible says: For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead where in we were held: That we should serve in newness of spirit and not in the oldness of the letter. What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin but by the law; for I had not known lust except the law had said. Thou shalt not covet. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. For I was alive without the law once; but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. And the commandment, which was ordained to life. I found to be unto death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is holy and the commandment, holy and just and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal sold under sin. For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal sold under sin. For that I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is in, my flesh) dwelleth no good thing; for to will is present with me: but how to perform that which is good I find not. (Romans 7: 5-18)   When those verses was written in a letter to the Roman Church by the Apostle Paul, do you thin he knew the magnitude of the impact it would have on you and I today. As Paul graciously depicted his own character defect to encourage the Roman Church, which it was by chance it would set the mark for future questions to come. Paul was able to relay his defects for our edifying today. By simply taking us through a glimpse of his mind set and how he struggled in his pursuit of following Christ, Jesus. What if the writer Apostle Paul was unwilling to be so free of shame to expresses his defects for the enhancement for the Church of Rome that is giving us hope today. This is the principle of revelation, the art of seeing self clearer than before thought the spiritual awakening that only the true nature of Christ, Jesus knowledge allows. Within seeking a closer and more personnel walk with the Lord, gives us the Christians a better understanding of self. This enable us to grow spiritually to manifest that growth physically outward where others can see.   What if we take this same approach with the Apostle Matthew? If we apply the same principle of revelation, for enhancement of our own spiritual walk. Would we be able to find the same attributes within the Apostle Matthew as we see clearly in the Apostle Paul? If we dive into the mid set of the Apostle Matthew, would it display a clearer and more insight into our own mind? Would we be able to grasp more out of his recorded word? Would it be more meaningful to us as Christians of today society in the year of 2006? All ready I believe that a deeper relationship a more revelation has been poured out upon us because simply of the few writer words. I believe if we have opened ourselves to the word of God since we have been reading theses few words. That God has prepared out heart to receive His knowledge to give our mind a fresher revelation about ourselves. This ultimately will enhance out magnification of Christ Jesus in our physical representation in our walk. You see I believe as a Christian God uses people for edifying one another to present an escapable fact that it is Him that liveth in me that have grace me to receive His knowledge. The Bible says: Brethren if a man be over taken in a fault, ye which are spiritual restore such an one in the spirit of meekness: considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing he deceiveth himself. But let every man prove his own world and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For every man shall bear his own burden. Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things, Be not deceived; God is not mocked; For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall be also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption: but he that soweth to the spirit shall of the spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6: 1-10)   When those scriptures were written Paul the Apostle was addressing a particular theme. Apostle Paul knew that the Galatians started their Christian walk in faith. But had started going toward another direction. Paul wanted to send a letter in meekness and compassion that expressed the true nature of Christ, Jesus intention for you and me. The Apostle Paul was defending the gospel of faith against the gospel of works. By expressing how works have nothing to do with the intention of the heart. Within that we see that it is not our works with others or our advise on how other should do but or own manifestation of our won daily spiritual walk we represent daily. This would be more evidence to others of their ability to grow than any advice that could ever be given. Because we became a burden carrier of other in meekness and with compassion and love grew spiritually which gave us as a Christian joy to be used by God not to tempt another but to edify and enhance another. In the word of God is victory for you and for I that by our overcoming give strength to another to go through. In the Apostle Matthew writing there is more to be revealed than we could possibly imagine. As we have now together seen in the word of God the break through spiritually that understanding the mind set of the writer will give us a better understanding of ourselves. For a spiritual awakening or revelation that will enhance, strengthen, an encourage others. Through our physical magnification of Christ Jesus working in our lives. We are now ready and willing to open ourselves to God’s word. To receive our revelation for spiritual break through of the enemy strong hold as well as attacks for physical magnification of Christ Jesus.   Now let’s put together some facts. Let’s start with the name. In some places his name was Matthew who means; Gift of the Lord or Jehova.” But in other areas he was referred to as Levi (Mark 2:14 Luke 5:27, notice within the writings of the Apostle Matthew 9:9. He refers to himself as Matthew.) Interesting how one view him as Matthew, another view him as Levi. Before we get into the main stream of his name I wish to clear up some key factors. First exactly why I refer to him as Apostle. The word Apostle means “One sent out to preach.” The Bible says: Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. A-men: (Matthew 28: 16-20) The Bible also says: Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and unbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believeth; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them: they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth and preached every where, the working with them and confirming the word with signs following. A-men. (Mark 14-20)   The Bible also says: And they rose up the same hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, saying, The Lord is risen indeed and hath appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread. And as they this spake Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? And why do thoughts arise in your heart? Behold my hands and my feet that it is I myself handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them hi hands and his feet. And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered he said unto them; Have ye here any meat? And the gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before them. And he said unto them; These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the psalms concerning me. Then open he their understanding that might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations beginning at Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, and carried up into heaven. (Luke 24: 33-51)   Cleary the Bible give great account that the Apostle Matthew was “sent out to preach.” The word preach means: to deliver a sermon; to speak publicly on a religious subject, esp. as a clergyman; to advocate. –er n. –ment n. a sermon. Esp. one of exaggerated solemnity [L. praedicare, to proclaim] Within God’s word, Matthew was given a charge to go forth and preach and teach. In some religious circle he is addressed as Saint Matthew. What is the difference between Apostle and Saint. Saint means: outstandingly devout and virtuous (root word virtue n. moral excellence: merit: good quality: female chastity; power of efficacy. Virtuous a. upright dutiful: chaste; virtuously adv. Virtuousness n. [l. virtus, manly excellence] person: one of the blessed in heaven: one formally canonized (root word canon n. a law or rule, esp. of the church: the books of the scriptures accepted by the Church as of divine authority: rules of faith: a standard: the list of saints: a church dignitary, esp. one connected with a cathedral: (n, the principal church in a diocese (n. the district in which a bishop exercise ecclesiastical (root word ecclesia (i-kle-zi-a) n. a church: a religious assembly. –stic. Church; v. t. to cononized –ed a. pious: hallowed; (hal-o) v. t. to make holy: to produce consecrate: to treat as sacred: to reverence. –ed a Halloween n. the evening before All Hallows or All Saints Day (Oct 31st); sacred dead –hood n. –like, ly a. devout: godly: pious; (pi-as) a. having reverence and love for God: marked by pretended or mistaken devotion: ly adv. St. Patrick Day, 17th March. St. Valentine’s Day 14th February. St. Vitus’s dance, chorea. Latter Day Saints, the Mormons Patron Saint, saint held to be a protector [Fr. Fr. L. sanctus, consecrated] (All definitions found in New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus)   Within this particular book I will be addressing him as the Apostle Matthew. This is not because of a denominational separation, or religious circle, it is for the communication effort of the readers. Now also within the different in the name. If some religious, apparel you might read hi “surname was Levi.” Or even in some Bibles that reference might even be established. The definition of the word surname is: n. family name [Fr surname] (New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus & Medical Dictionary) In the New Oxford American Dictionary reads: middle English partial translation of Anglo-Norman: a hereditary name common to all members of a family as distinct from a given name; archaic [very old or old fashion 2. (of a word or a style of language) no longer in everyday use but sometimes used to impart an old fashion flavor. 3. of an early period of art or culture esp. the 7th 6th centuries B.C. in Greece.) a name title or epithet (an adjective or descriptive phrase expressing a quality characteristic of the person or thing mentioned) added to a person’s name esp. one indication their birth place or a particular quality or achievement.) (New Oxford American Dictionary) Interesting, within the meanings of the word surnamed we could come up with a working theory that Levi was the Apostle Matthew last name, or we could look at that within other writings within the Bible, when Levi replaced Matthew it was an adjective or descriptive phrase expressing a quality characteristic of the person mentioned. Describing the position for which the family business, tax collecting. Interesting, or is it even important enough to warrant investigating. Will it have any wait bearing on exactly who the Apostle Matthew was. Or better yet would it give us any insight into the particular mindset of the Apostle Matthew. (Remember that Apostle means: sent out to preach: Saint means Blessed one in heaven: Both titles appropriate for Matthew, but we are talking about his min set here on earth.)   Let’s just gather a little more information on the name before we make a decision. (Now also keep in mind that the word surname also means: such a word or phrase as a term of abuse: descriptive title. Late 16th Century French) Maybe if we look at the word Levi it might shed some important light on the situation. Levi means: Joined, to be fastened to, devout to, attached to, veering (root word veer: to turn; of wind to change direction, esp. clockwise; (Naut.) to change ship’s course: (Fig.) to change one’s opinion or point of view [Fr. Virer]), united, joined to, knotted. (Bible and Concordance Dictionary: New Oxford American Dictionary it means: In early Jewish history a member of the 12 tribes of Israel and Judah) in Palestine. Only the 10 northern tribes constituting the Kingdom of Israel were known as Israelites. When Israel was conquered by the Assyrians (721 BC) it population was absorbed my other people and the term Israelites came to refer to those who were still distinctively Jewish. The descendants of the Kingdom of Judah, in liturgical (root word liturgy (lit-er-ji) n. the established ritual for public worship in a church, esp., the Mass. Liturge n. a leader in public worship, liturgic, -al a. liturgically adv. Liturgics n. the study of church worship and its ritual. Liturgist n. [GK Leitourgia, a public service]) usage, an Israelite is a Jew who is neither a cohen (Hebrew: priest: Jewish priest descended from Zadok ( a descendant of Aaron) priest at the first Temple of Jerusalem. 2. or Kohen: The biblical priesthood was hereditary, and male. Before King Josaih’s reign (7th century BC) the high priest alone could enter the Holy of Holyes on Yom Kippur. Lower ranking priests accompanied the army in war or administered the temple. Priestly class was strongest during the period of the Second Temple and was curtailed after its destruction. The rabbinate has replaced the Kohanim as authorities on the Law, but Kohanim (a member of the priestly class, having certain rights and duties in the synagogue (congregation of Jews met for worship: Jewish place of worship. Synagogical (sin-a-gaj-a-kal) a. [GK sun, together: again to lead]) (New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus & Medical Dictionary) retained some privileges (except in Reform Judaism) (New Oxford American Dictionary)   After looking at the word Levi, you might be more confused than before. Maybe some have a clearer picture. Let’s condense the information and maybe that will help you grab the information. The word Levi means to join or fasten to or veering. Which also tell us within early Jewish history Levi was the name of one to the tribes of Israel? Now after the establishment (930 BC) of two kingdoms (Israel and Judah) in Palestine, only the 10 northern tribes constituting the kingdom of Israel. And was known as Israelites. When Israel was conquered by the Assyrians (721BC) people mixed, so the term Israelites referred distinctively Jewish descendants of the Kingdom of Judah. So an Israelite is a Jew who is neither cohen (Jewish priest, descendant from Aaron) nor a Levite (a descendant from Levi) but a pure blood, unmixed, from Judah. Now why would this be important? What difference would it make?   Let’s see, armed with this information from the previous paragraph we can see a little clearer. We know that the Apostle Matthew was a Jew, as well as wrote to the Jews, about a Jew. A segregated group bound not by religious preference but by blood. Descendants from Judah that was kept pure blood by God. So if this is correct never would the Apostle Matthew would have taken the last name of Levi, because of his family heritage. Because Levi would be consider not a Jew. Not an Israelite. So if that is the case what is the ingredient that is missing from our equation. Why a Jew pure would be called Levi. Let’s go back and review, maybe there is an explanation that we are missing, that will reveal the nature of the Apostle Matthew mind sent through his hereditary up bringing.   Let’s take a look again at the meaning of surname: a hereditary name common to all members of a family as distinct from a given name: Archaic (very old or old fashion 2. (of a word or a style of language) no longer in everyday use but sometimes used to import an old-fashion flavor. 3. of an early period of art or culture esp. the 7th and 6th centuries BC in Greece) a name or epithet (an adjective or descriptive phrase expressing a quality characteristic of the person or thing mentioned 2. Such a word or phrase as a term of abuse. 3. a descriptive title (Late 16th century French) added to a person’s name esp. one indication their birthplace or a particular quality or achievement.   As we review this definition we might be asking ourselves, what if there is know answer. Or what if this don’t even matter. If I am asking myself those questions maybe we should also ask ourselves some other questions. Like if God’s plan was perfectly design for my life today how would I find it. Or there is no mistakes with God then this must have been important enough to God to inspire others to document it in there writings? And is there a hidden revelation for me in getting a clearer and precise understanding of God’s word in my life? Very interesting questions but I cannot answer for you, but for me I have this to say, God’s word have magnified God’s joy in my life ten times over. Through the revelation of God’s understanding have given me great strength in times of my weakness. It has guarded me in times when I was most vulnerable to the enemy. I have learned that every word written in the Bible is geared as a blessing to me for the edifying of spiritual application for physical magnification. So let us continue in receiving our blessing inquest of our spiritual revelation.   We know that when Matthew was found by Jesus he was sitting at the table of custom with his father, Alphaeus, or was he. Sometimes we don’t pay attention to the little things it will distort our entire picture. He wasn’t sitting with his father, he was alone and his father name was mentioned in the Apostle Mark writing 2:14. He was most likely trained by his father to do the work, for which the Bible says no reference to whatsoever. But the Bible do say that Jesus says “follow me” and the Apostle Matthew did. We also know that the Apostle Matthew wrote in such a manner to describe Jesus as King. What barren does this have in our search for the understanding of Levi given in the gospel concerning. Be also well aware that in the Apostle Matthew he referred to himself as Mathew. (Mathew 9:9)   We know as well that s a “tax collector” his position was highly respected. It was also a position that was not a position that was voted on such as today. This was a position that was family orientated. We have to remember that this period  was a time of dictatorship you could say. Where certain positions was appointed by the King or the prophet of the time. This also was like a trade for the family, as well as very rarely one went against the family business. So as Jesus himself was a carpenter as a trade taught to Him by His earthly father Joseph. So Matthew was most likely trained for the position. Now let us take a look at that. In the event of such a training that was passed down through generation it is most likely that much wisdom as well as character. Because you carried much responsibility with that position. So there was like a old quality about such a responsibility the exploded from one in that position. A quality which was held with great pride and developed character that was unquestionable among those that came in contact with that person. Have you ever been around a person that there presence filled the room as well as their demeanor was felt in their conversation. That’s because of the up bringing within the family circle that knew there would be a preparation for the position. Within preparation there would be a certain code of conduct that must be taught.   What effort would it take to start molding a child from birth for the family business. What constant reinforcing of principles as well as values to create a character of ethics which is undisputed, to reign after the legacy of ones father. To be able to capture the essence of a political power house and transform religious principles take an extra magnitude of quality. Interesting this form of  thinking. Because it brings to life a realistic view of supernatural evidence at work in the choosing of Christ Jesus, the Apostle Matthew. It shows the enhancement of site and all knowledge on the part of Christ Jesus you might be asking your self how? Let us take a look at that. The word surname means: a hereditary name common to all members of a family as distinct from a given name. As if a mane passed on outside of the original name, because of a distinct quality. Such as we do today. Have you ever been around someone that had a nickname placed upon them, which truly fit them. Not only was that but everyone calling them by that nickname including those that originally named him/her in the beginning. Or maybe some of us met different leaders within our spiritual community which says that we have something special for which we should be a preacher or youth pastor, or missionary. Is it possible that one protrude certain quality or character traits that explode all around this person that send out special signals that others pick up. The ones that pick it up is so tuned that they see more into hat person than they see in their self. Could that be the key for which Jesus pick the Apostle Matthew as one of His disciples. Would that as well bring to life the second meaning of the word surname: archaic name or title or epithet added to a person’s name esp. one indicating their birth place or a particular quality or achievement. An old and adjective or descriptive phrase expressing a quality characteristic of the person or thing mentioned. Could it in fact be what Christ, Jesus saw in Matthew. An old trait or character that had be nurtured and groomed that was so explosive to those around him but know one knowing the full magnitude. Know one but our Lord and Savior. Could it be for you and I to see how this has hallened in our times as well as seeing how Christ took that and promoted it higher than anyone expected. Have you ever knew or seen a person at their worse and thought to yourself or even told them that they had so much more to offer to the world than what they are doing now.      Maybe it was an addict or an alcoholic or prostitute that back in the day was a very smart, carrying, loving, person that you felt would go far in their life. Or maybe that one thaw s in trouble all the time, and was always caught up in wrong doing and you tell yourself he or she would be in jail for the rest of their life or dead before they even got grown. And later in the years you see that person and they have a loving family and a great career and very active in their local church and you are just shocked by it all. You see that is what the presence or the lack of the presence of God can do in a person’s life. You see as Matthew with outstanding character and well up bringing culd have been an addict or an alcoholic without the presence or the grace of God poured out upon him. You see God uses what we have an enhance it or increase it like know one else can. This could be possible that this particular event was so important to be documented as it was. Why the word of God is so important to be documented as it was. Why the word of God is so important to study to see exactly what Christ, Jesus has for us as we turn our will and life over to Him. And He takes what we have a cleans it up and multiply it to where we achieve things we dare not to even dream about. Because it is so hard for us as Christians to possibly contain the awesome power of God in some ones life and determine how far they would go. But the second half of the question is interesting as well. Why Levi? Why choose a name, the second quests the very nature of a person’s existence as well as bring forth some would say a stumbling block. Interesting unfolding of knowledge but is it important enough to impact the complete picture of the Apostle Matthew mindset, within the writing of the Gospel of Matthew.   Some Christians would say that there might not even be a need to know that. Or to much information can be a dangerous thing to some people. Or you might even heard that something could be a stumbling block. I truly deeply believe even heard that something could be a stumbling block. I truly deeply believe in the word of God, as well as believing that all his word is true. So I would have to take in account what the Bible says and study it in truth and spirit. Without the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the awakening of the truth or you could say the revelation from God I could not even attempt to write this commentary on the Gospel of Matthew. But in accordance with the Bible I believe these scriptures: The Bible says: I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worth of the vocation wherewith ye are called in love: Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling: One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all, and in you all. But unto everyone of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up in high he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that the ascended what is it but htat he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens tha the might fill all things) And he gave some, apostles: and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers: For the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ. Till we all come in the unity of faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness, of Christ; That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive: But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint suppleith, according to the effectual working in the measure pf every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. (Ephesians 4: 1-16)   You see within those few scriptures God has sat forth a perfect plan through knowledge of His word by His grace for the edifying of the body of Christ. So how can it be not important? How can it be a stumbling block. The word stumbling block means: n. obstacle: hindrance [M. E. akin to stammer] I cannot set the true nature of God’s word claiming to be an obstacle in someone’s life. I truly understood that in the body of Christ we have babes. The Bible says; Thought he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered: And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec. Of whim we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one tech you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God: and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Hebrews 5: 8-14)   So I truly understand that the stumbling block is not the word of God, but the spiritual growth of individual and their willingness to go further. This is the exact principle for which this commentary was written. For us to see our mind set, and fine it in the word of God and grow with the knowledge of truth by the Spirit of God. And the blocks will be truly removed. So for me God’s word need to be explored for the wisdom, truth, knowledge it has. For the application in our daily walk. So is it a stumbling block no! Now let us get back to the main principle at hand. Why Levi?   If the surnamed was identifying a characteristic or quality for which the Apostle Matthew had why Levi. We know that Levi means; joined to be fastened to, devoted to, attached to, veering, united, and joined to knotted. Now that is interesting how the characteristic or quality jumps right out when this is revealed. The Apostle Matthew was loyal to what ever he joined himself to. He had respect, integrity, discipline and loyalty. His character was strong because what ever he set his mind to he gave all to it. The Apostle Matthew was a perfect example for you and I because of his abiity to believe and give all to what you believed. And that characteristic had been stilled in him through his up bringing as well as his preparation as a “tax collector.” And that what Levi was, one joined but is was what the Apostle Matthew was joined to that elevated him higher than he thought about. I don’t think that the Apostle Matthew knew that the training for the family business would be enhanced once he joined himself to Christ Jesus. For which lifted him to a place to where you and I are studying. Over 1,500 years ago the Apostle Matthew wrote a letter and we finally got it into out mailbox and it is out turn to read it, and study it and grow from it.   Now we know that Levi means: fasten to for which identify certain traits which a person possessed in order to be called such a name. Levi was one of the sons of Jacob by his wife Leah. For which the prophecies were very interesting. In Genesis 49: 5-7 the Bible says: “Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. O my soul come not thou into their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they digged down a wall. Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce and their wrath for it was cruel; I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter thin in Israel.” So first let us get some type of clarity on this prophesy by Jacob on Levi.   Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. (Genesis 49:5) This ancient Lamsa translation renders it instruments of anger are in their nature. The word “instruments” comes form the Hebrew Keliy (ke-lee) something prepared, any apparatus (as an implement, utensil, artillery, weapon, etc) that is made or forge. The word cruelty translated from the Hebrew means; “violence, instruments of anger and instruments of justice.” This means that these things are in the nature of the Levite.   “O my soul come not thou into their secret: unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man and in their self-will they digged down a wall.”  We see here again where Jacob thought it was not Godly righteousness or the act of God that Levi and Simeon were carrying out when they murdered a whole village. They were acting upon their own self-will and their own hidden agenda. Jacob said I don’t want anything to do with that kind of conference or agreement which these two will make together. One of the translations renders it. I never agreed to their counsel. We have to be careful we don’t agree with unrighteous counsel. Traditions tells us that it was the same Shechemite family that tried to steal even Sarah away from Abraham and Rebecca from Isaac. They had been a conniving wicked bunch, seizing every woman that they saw was beautiful. Lusting after her and kidnapping her from her husband and participating in rapping and abusing her. The feeling that was expressed as love Shechem had for Dinah was not love but lost.   In spite of their deserving this kind of judgment, Jacob knew that it was not right for Levi and Simeon to do what they did. He grieved over their anger and their murder. Sometimes Christians have a tendency to feel glad when one of their enemies is no longer around or drop dead. Have you ever heard someone say, Well what do you know, God has finally wiped them out. I was expecting it to happen! We have got to be careful that we don’t get that way. That is the spirit of the unrighteous Levi upon us. Jacob said “I did not agree with their counsel. Even though his very own daughter had been abducted and raped and he had cause to be angry, still he knew that God would handle his enemies for him. Jacob showed the beauty of his character in this hour. He magnified what he believed in than what he thought should be done to those that committed such crimes against his daughter his people, and himself. What character that would take to demonstrate such ability to summit oneself unto God almighty.    Honour cannot be united with the secret of violence, injustice, cruelty and anger. Your honour cannot be united with someone’s dishonour violence and cruelty even, if it seems to be for a righteous cause.(Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the King hear the words of his servant if the Lord have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering but if they be the children of men cursed be they before the Lord; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the Lord, Saying, Go serve other gods. 1Samuel 26:19. Also the Bible says: Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of host is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge (Selah) (Psalm 46: 10-11)   It was anger of Levi that made him a killer. He had the instrument in himself that could be used in a moment of violent rage to destroy and to change his mature. The Bible says: So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you let him first cast a stone at her. (John 8:7) The Bible also says: She said, No man lord, and Jesus said unto her neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. (John 8:11) Beware dear ministers of the Gospel that you do not allow that self developed weapon, forged in the heat of the fires of Anger and jealousy, To be used against an innocent child of God.   Cursed be their anger. It seems as if old Jacob was as angry with his very own sons, as he had been with the Shechemite. Years had going by, and now Jacob was 147 years old. But still he had not forgotten. Maybe he had not thought of it for years, but in the moment when the Holy Spirit came upon him, it was not really Jacob talking, it was the Lord bringing up the past and the spirit of the Lord was calling to remembrance.   Cursed be their anger! These are strong words by have you not used the same terminology when you have cast out demons of temper an anger? Levi could never have the moment when Levi was delivered of the spirit come in his priestly ministry with any of his old self in his nature. Beloved we cannot be used of God with all those weapons of self and anger in our nature (habitation).    Remember Rueben’s trouble! His sin was the passion of lust which led to adultery Levi’s was the passion of anger that led to murder. Levi was no better than Reuben, maybe worse. How can we say then that we prefer Levi above Reuben? Sin is sin. Weakness is weakness and we cannot pamper one and hide it away in the closet feeling we can continue to do God’s works just because we have not been caught in the bed of our neighbour wife. Our anger may have killed our neighbour and we still stand behind a self righteous pulpit. Anger, is clothed in filthy rages of self righteousness. The day of the Lord is at hand.I will divide them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel    This was God’s answer to a standing problem. Deliverance is not always enough. Sometimes you must separate the two. We need a little Christian diplomacy. What happens when your children start fighting? What do you do? You scatter them. God did the same with Simeon and Levi. And by scattering Levi all over Israel in 48 different cities they brought their anointing and their intercession and there word of the Lord with them. Do you see what God did? He takes everything in us that He can use and turns that into His glory, my failures, my weakness and my mistakes. That is what the devil does also, only he uses my good points for my destruction. But God uses my weak points for my blessing.   Now let’s further look into the prophesy of Moses’ to reveal unto us a little more insight to Levi. The Bible says: And of Levi he said, Let thy Thummin and Urim be with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah and father and to his mother. I have not seen him: neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept they covenant. They shall teach Jacob thy judgments, and Israel thy law: they shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon thine altar. Bless, Lord his substance, and accept the work of his hands: smite through the loins of them that rise against him and of them that hate him that they rise not again. (Deuteronomy 33: 8-11)   Moses prophecy is the opposite of Jacob’s. Remember, Moses was a Levite. You can see the same thing in him that you saw in his grandfather, Levi when he went out there, ready to cut off Shalem. What did Moses do to prove he was the son of Levi? In the hour of indignation when he saw how his brothers, the Israelites were suffering in Egypt. He took out his sword and slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand. (Exodus 12:2) He was sure that God would be very pleased with this act, but instead he had to flee into the wilderness where he had to endure. Forty years of wilderness training in the back side of the desert.   When you get to that place where you are small in your own eyes that is when you have the possibility of becoming an instrument for the glory of God. You can prepare to rise up and become a deliverer. The Levite family was called for the deliverance of God’s chosen people, but they all had to go through their personal Gethsemane. They had to learn the weakness of their anger and the injustice of their judgment. Levi is so important in God’s plan: and that is why the devil will take his weakness and his strengths and try to destroy him so that others will be afraid of a Levite and will not want to work with him and will not have anything, to do with him, because they can see what he can do in the moment of unguarded passion.    And of Levi he said, Let thy Thummin and Thy Urim be with thy holy one.    This word “holy” which is chaiyd (khaw- seed) in Hebrew is only used once in the Bible. It is interpreted as; “kind, pious, good, holy, merciful, saint, Godly.    Moses saw that the Levites family as a holy one. When God gets finished with us that is what we are, only. He can make us into holy instruments. Isn’t that beautiful. We changed from instruments of cruelty into holy creatures for the glory of God.   The mystery of the Urim and Thummin is very interesting; (lights and perfection). Signifying light and perfection; In the breastplate (Exodus 28:30 Lev. 8:8) Eleazor to ask counsel for Joshua after the judgment of (Numbers 27:21) Priests only might interpret (Dt. 33:8 Ezra 2:63 Ne 7:65) Israelites consult (Jdg. 1:1, 20:18, 23) withheld answer from King Saul (1Sa. 28:6) Within this we understand it as an inner light and inner truth. When there was a situation facing Israel, where they needed Divine guidance, the people went to the high priest and he would put his hands inside the breastplate and take out these two stones, and he would receive Divine guidance from the Lord. It speaks of the inner light within us and the inner truth within us which we all have as priests of the Lord, because the Holy spirit is dwelling within us. When you come to a problem and you don’t know where to turn for guidance, you don’t have to run to this person and ask them what to do or to that one and ask the Holy spirit to give guidance, because you are now priest unto God.. You only need to look inside and ask the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, for you have light and truth within.  (One of the translation renders it Thy Thummin and thy Urim be with thy just one Moses and saw Levi as having been justified through the sacrifice which he had offered. As you bring sacrifices to God an eternal work of holiness and justification is being done.)    Whom thou didst prove at Massah and with whom thou didst strive the waters of Meribah (Deuteronomy 33:8)     The Bible says: And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the Lord, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink. Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, why chide ye with me? Wherefore do ye tempt the Lord? And the people thirsted there for water: and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst? And Moses cried unto the Lord saying. What shall I do unto this people? The be almost ready to stone me. And the Lord said unto Moses, go on before the people, and take with thee of elders of Israel: and thy rod: wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand and go. Behold I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shall smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the site of the elders of Israel. And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the Lord, saying Is the Lord among us, or not? (Exodus 17: 1-7)   This was the proving ground of the Levites even Massah and Meribah. Massah means; “trail, temptation, testing.” Meribah means: “strife, quarrel, dissatisfaction, rebellion, mutiny.” Can you imagine all of Israel striving, arguing, complaining, full of fear and anger, blaming Moses, threatening to stone him to death and wishing themselves back in Egypt! They were full of fear and unbelief which results in complaining and mutiny. In that hour Levi (Moses) proved himself with God by taking the rod in his hand and acting in faith: he struck the hard place and produced blessing in the moment of strife.    If you are a Levite that is what you can do when you are living in the place of anointing and communion with God. That is your rightful place in God. You can step into a situation where there is strife, confusion, anger, and all kinds of misunderstanding. Plus fear, and a feeling of giving, up and going back and you will step up, with the authority of God in your hand and strike the hard place and out of it you will bring living water, that will solve the problems instantly. That is the blessedness of being a Levite. You can stand in a hard place with the right answer. In that moment Levi (Moses) wasn’t the old Levite anymore. He had been proven and was found perfect before God. Out of the rock flowed rivers of living water. That watered believed about 3 million people besides much cattle.   The Bible says: Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him: neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor know his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant. (Deuteronomy 33:9) This is not exactly a prophecy (for telling) it is more of a pronouncement of something that happened in the past. If so when did it happen?   This was fulfilled in Exodus 32: 25-29 which the Bible says: “And when Moses saw that the people were naked: (for Aaron had made then naked unto their shame among their enemies) Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, who is on the Lord’s side? Let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him And he said unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Put every man his sword by them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, put every man his answered by his side, and of in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and everyman and his companion, and every man his neighbour. And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses there fell of the people that day about three thousand men. For Moses had said, consecrate yourselves today to the Lord, even everyman upon his brother that the may bestow upon you a blessing this day.   When Moses cam down Mt. Sinai with the tablets of the testimony and found God’s people dancing around the golden calf that they had made in Deuteronomy 32. And when Moses saw that the people were naked (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies) It cost the Levites a great price that day to stand on the Lord’s side. It cost some of them their very own fathers, brothers, sons and family. This is what Jesus means when he says; “He that loveth, father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. (Mathew 10:37)   God says a true Levite will nor regard family connection. A true Levite will always be ordered by the Lord and will do the will of God. God said he will not regard his mother or father: he is going to be led by the spirit and not make compromises because of a physical relationship. Let us rise into our place in God. This is the thing that is destroying the church. We are showing favoritism in God’s camp. The blood is thicker than the word. I mean the family relationships are more important than what God has to say about the matter. This is destroying the ministry. We are compromising with the evil. Some churches are nothing but cliques. A Levite can never have a clique around him. God will not permit him to do so. His inheritance is in the Lord. As soon as he gets attached to someone, God will cut that relationship apart.    They shall teach Jacob thy judgments, and Israel thy law: They shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon thine altar. (Deuteronomy 33:10)    The Lord has given the Levites the gift of understanding and teaching. His word to others. From them came the great scribes of Israel, the synagogues and the scriptures, which we cherish more than our very breath today. Many of them scriptures, which we cherish mote than our very breath today. Many of them spent their lives in writing out the Holy Scrolls of God’s Word. They lived in caves and died for their calling. God was first in their life. They were separated form love ones, misunderstood and abused, but they loved His word more than there daily bread. This was the particular message unto Jacob and Israel. To always in everyway keep God’s word first in their lives.    Blessed Lord, his substance, and accept the work of his hand: smite the loins of then that rise against him and of them that hate him that they rise not again. (Deuteronomy 33:11)    The tribe of Levi, when under the anointing of the Holy Spirit is invincible. God has promised a supernatural supply of all their needs because their life was a faith life. God takes special care of the Levites because He has promised to be their inheritance. Smiting through the loins means: that the strength of the man who comes against the anointed of the Lord shall be smitten by the Lord Himself and cripples permanently. For God has placed a special anointing on His people as priest as well as lovers of the Word. That it will be Him who called them an anointed then that He would fight their battles.   Now after reviewing the prophesies that were placed upon the Levites, it is quiet revealing to the true nature of Levi. I believe we could safely say that true dedication unto God is a perfect trait of the characteristics of Levi. You see in the passing down of generations of a particular job, the deep rooted of pride and character of being the best at that particular job. Or to be chosen for certain jobs in that time certain qualities had to been seen. To represent the King as well as the people to the king had to take a great amount of character. It is possible that which was seen though out Matthew’s generation was the kind of quality which characterized certain traits that the representation of Levi summed it up for the people. There fairness, loyalty, honesty, were represented and proven so much that everyone saw it. As well as being a representative of the King, taking care of his most prized possession combined with everything else there was no other outside name that carried enough weight behind to call. The Jews knew there history as well as the struggles and battles, for which here was one that through it all held on to his true nature and character to be called Levi.   Now there is just one more thing before we actually attack the Apostle Matthew writing to achieve maximum revelation of God’s word we muct take a look at the writing style. I feel this is one of the most important pices of information there is. It will give us a firm image of the Apostle Matthew’s mind set as well as the mind set of those which he was writing. With this information we will receive conformation of understanding the Apostle Matthew’s Gospel. For you and I we have received a lot of information, but know way to confirm it. But within God’s word conformation is always given it is up to us to seek it. And we are going to do that by being spiritually opened and factual advised for a supernatural break through for a greater revelation fo the Word of God. Through the Apostle Matthew’s writing. First of all we need together information that will break the chain of ignorance to allow our spiritual selves to grow. Then we must be able to understand that their was a divine plan implemented and nothing has changed it course. Thirdly we must study God’s word to feed our spiritual nature to be strong enough to receive God’s revelation in our lives. To give us answers that will set us free from the deception of our enemy. Let us see why there is four gospels and what link is their to the Old Testament and why? Why Matthew’s letter was was chosen? What was the true nature of the letter as well as what exactly the Apostle Matthew was writing while alive here on earth, to his own people? These and many other questions will be answered as we continue to prepare ourselves. By truth and spirit, lights and perfection.       Within the Old Testament is some keys that unlock some mysteries within the New Testament. These keys deciphered will give to us a measure of knowledge which super sees logic that present escapable conclusion of God’s masterful higher plan. You see the Apostle Matthew quoted more scriptures form the Old Testament than any other gospel. His divine revelation form God Almighty and his presence with Christ Jesus awakened such magnitude of revelation within the Apostle Matthew that its impact was more than anyone could imagine. Let’s take a look. Within the Old Testament reveals four standards. Interesting word “standard.” It gives a sense of importance, something never to be forgotten. In the New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus & Medical Dictionary the word standard means: n. weight, measure, model, quality, etc. to which others must conform: criterion; pole with a flag; flag esp. ensign of war: royal banner; upright support; a serving as established rule, model, etc; having fixed values uniformed; standing upright –ize v.t. to make of or being to uniform level of weight, measure, quality etc. –ization n. [O.Fr. estendard, a royal banner] Interesting definitions now lets look in another place. In the 21st Century Edition The Strongest Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible the word “standard” means: An ensign used by each of the tribes of Israel in camp and march (Nu. 1:52 2:2) Banners used as (Ps 20:5 SS 6:4, 10) Used in war (Jer.4:21) Used to signal the route the defended cities (Jer. 4:6) to call attention to news (Jer. 50:2 52:12) Now all of those definitions are interesting but what do they have to do with the Apostle Matthew if anything? Let us explore that concept together for out edifying of the spirit.    The Bible that have been inspired by God has constantly maintained His word of perfection. To capture the essences of God’s true wisdom for mankind existence for which He receive the glory. Within his glory their for us is God’s revelation of His word. So let us take a look at a few verses and receive the blessing of God to strengthen our daily walk. The Old Testament holds many keys that brings God’s word to life. For which will unlock some special wisdom in the Apostle Matthew’s Gospel. So let look into the scriptures and receive God’s blessing. The Bible says: Every an of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard with the ensign of their father’s house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch. And on the east about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch. And on the east side toward the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nashon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah. And his host and those that were numbered of them were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred. And those that do pitch next unto him shall be the tribe of Issachar: and Nethaneel the son of Zuar shall be captain of the children of Issachar. And his hose and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred. Then the tribe of Zebulun and Eliab the son of Helon shall be captain of the children of Zebulun. And his host and those that were numbered thereof were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred. All that ere numbered in the camp of Judah were an hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred throughout their armies. These shall first set fourth. (Numbers 2: 2-9) We see within those few scripture that the tribes were split up. Before we of into this we will see exactly how all was split up.   Then we will take a look at the prophesy of Judah. With this information we will have a better understanding of not only the Apostle Matthew mindset but as well as the miraculous unfolding of a perfect plan of God. (Now the word “ensign” means: a badge of rank or insignia of office: a flag or banner: an emblem: (US navy) the lowest commissioned officer. –cy, -ship n. rank of an ensign [Fr. Ensieigne] (new Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus & Medical Dictionary) Also in some of my writings I refer to the banner as a flag. This is just symbolic for me.But the proper terminology would be banner. Why? The word banner means into eh New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus & Medical Dictionary is n. a flag orensign. –ed a [fr. Bannie re] In the 21st Century The Strongest Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible the word banner means; ensign or standards (not flag) were used in ancient times for military, national, and ecclesiastical purpose very much as they are today. (Nu. 2:3 Isa5:26, 11:10 Jer. 4:21) Fro we clearly see one says it is while the other most defiantly states it is not. But for comprehensive measure I will from this point refer to it as “banner.” Now let us look at the rest of the break down of the tribes.   The Bible says: On the Westside shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their armies and the captain of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elisshama the son of Ammihud. And his host and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousands and five hundred. And by him shall be the tribe of Manasseh: and the captain of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. And his hose, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred. Then the tribe of Benjamin; and the captain of the sons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni. And his host and those that were numbered of them were thirty and five thousand and four hundred. All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were an hundred thousand and eight thousand and an hundred, throughout their armies. And they shall go forward in the third rank. Numbers 2: 18-24. within these few verses it shows that the west side was under the standard of Ephraim. And that prophesy is particularly interesting which is found in Genesis: 48: 13-20 48: 5-6, 49:22-26, Deuteronomy 33: 13-17) If we furthered studied that Mark the Apostle was a relative of Barnabas (Col 4:10) which was a Levite who gave his possessions to be owned in common with other disciples (Act 4: 36-37). So in common understanding it makes interesting studying.   Now the Bible says; On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies; and the captain of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur. And his host and those that were numbered thereof, were forty six thousand and five hundred. And those which pitch by him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the captain of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai. And his host and those that were numbered of then were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred. Then the tribe of Gad and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel. And his host and those that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty through out their armies. And they shall set forth in the second rank. Again we see that on the south side that the standard was set forth in Reuben for which within his ranks were Simeon and Gad. As well since this particular Commentary is on the Gospel of Matthew some details will not be explored. But in order to unlock the secret of the banner you would have to study the prophesy of Reuben. Which is found in Genesis 49: 1-4 35:22 story. (1Chr. 5:1) (Deuteronomy 33:6)   The Bible also says: The standard of the camp of Dan shall be on the north side by the armies; and the captain of the children of Dan be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred. And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran. And his host and those that wee numbered of them were forty and one thousand and five hundred. Then the tribe of Naphtali: and the captain of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan. And his host and those that were numbered of them were fifty and three thousand and four hundred. All they that were numbered in the camp of Dan were an hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred. They shall go hind most with their standards. Number 2: 25-31. We see within those few verses that the standard of Dan was set as the banner on the northside. For which was added to his ranks Asher and Naphtali. To understand the standard it is also hidden in the prophesy which is in Genesis 49: 16-18 Deuteronomy 33:22. Now to recap on the eastside under the banner of Judah was; Judah, Issachar and Zebulum: on the Westside under the banner of Ephraim was; Ephraim, Manasseh and Benjamin: on the southside under the banner of Dan was: Dan, Asher and Naphtali: The bible says; These are those which were numbered of the children of Israel by the house of their fathers all those that were numbered of the camps throughout  their hosts were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty. But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the Lord commanded Moses; so they pitched by their standards and so they set forward every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers. (Numbers 2: 32-34)   Now interesting how the tribes were broken down in accordance with the standards that were told to Moses’ by God, to write the gospels. As well as the style of writing for which Apostle used? Could their be a link or a hidden key to decipher the writings? Could we see God’s miraculous perfect plan unfolding as we search the scriptures? As we together gather information about the past effect our present to give biblical or spiritual revelation about our course in the future. Could this be the major focus on renewing the mind as well as study to show ourselves approved? As we search the scriptures, empowering ourselves with God’s knowledge praying for His wisdom for a spiritual revelation, for a physical break through worthy for God’s glory. Have you seen inspired by the reviewing of God’s word to continue searching the scriptures. For this reason I submitted myself unto the presence of the Lord to be obedient unto God to become his willing servant to write this commentary. As we continue my prayer is that God’s word inspire you a swell as empower you for which a physical break through will happen, where others will say, “What must I do in order to be saved?” And set free as you have been set free.   Now lets look into the prophesy of Judah and see if it shed any light on the Apostle Matthew writing in the Gospel of Matthew. The Bible says: Judah thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee. Judah is a lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, thou are gone up: he stooped down: he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The scepter shall depart from Judah, nor a lawyer/lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come: and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes: His eyes shall be red with wine and his teeth white with milk. Genesis 49: 8-12. The Bible also says: And this is the blessing of Judah: and he said, Hear, Lord, the voice of Judah and bring him unto his people: let his hands be sufficient for him: and be thou and help to him from his enemies. (Deuteronomy 33:7)   Now lets examine the prophesy of Judah. In order to do this we must fully comprehend the magnitude of the lion. So let us look at the first part. The symbol of Judah is lion as well as their standard. Which was the standard in the east. There are seven different words used for Loin in the Old Testament indicating different ages and stages. The three that are used in the prophesy that Jacob gives his Judah are: 1. Gur or guwr (goor) Judah is a lion’s whelp (Genesis 49:9). The word “whelp” (gur or guwr) means: “a cub.” It comes from the root ward guwr together, etc. 2. Aryeh (ar-yay) He coucheth as a lion (Genesis 49:9) The word aryeh portrays the young violent lion. 3. Lebaowth (Leb-ew-oth) As an old lion who shall rouse him up. (Genesis 49:9). The lion is known through all the ages as the majestic beast, the “King” of the beasts. There are certain characteristics about the lion which I feel we ought to consider.   The “gur” (whelp or cub) First of all, the whelp. This is a baby lion, who has still mot been taught to defend itself. It relies on its mother for protection and spends the first part of its life playing and getting into mischief, vexing its wiser and older family members. It is afraid of its shadow and its foolishness it gathers together with other little cubs, thinking that it will be protected by quantity, rather than quality and strength. It is known for it yelping rather than its roar. The roar has still bot been developed. The new-born cub is covered by dark spots or a pale ground colour, but these marking are generally lost, with approaching maturity. In some lion’s however the spots are certain on the limbs, under parts and flanks throughout life. The cubs are born at anytime of the year. (There is no definite breeding season) The litter varies from two to four (rarely six). They are born blind. The eyes opened when they are about a week old. They donot become adult until the permanent canines replace the milk teeth at the age of about one year. The Lion reaches its prime about five or six years of age. The life span of the lion if about 25 years or more.   Judah until he reaches spiritual adulthood is far from majestic. He knows his birthright, but in his blindness, with his undeveloped and unperfected nature (spots) he is an easy prey for his enemy. As long as Judah is living on the milk –diet, he cannot reach the stage where he enters into his ministry. There are many Christians today who are in the tribe of Judah but there they carry in no indication of their royal birth because they are in the yelping cub stage. They are either playful or bossy, and become obnoxious because they have not grown into the greatness of maturity. In their neophyte state they irate and aggravate those they work with and are very not teachable and not trainable. Many are cast on the rubbish heap of humanity because those who could have trained them gave upon them, having been worn out in the process of trying.     The aryeh: This is the second stage, and it portrays the young, violent lion that is full of self-confidence and foolishness. He has developed his roar, and goes around terrorizing the neighborhood with his commands and threats. Because he is full grown in size, but not in intelligence, his worse enemy is himself. At this stage, he has out grown his yelping, and developed other sounds such as coughs, grunts, growls and deep purring noises. We meet Judahites ever day who are working on these different ways of expressing themselves. Don’t let their deep purring fool you.   In the lion, parts of Africa these young lions sometimes bite the tires of the motor car. Sometimes they are so playful that they may run after the car. Often in the evening they start roaring, and their roaring can reach such a crescendo that they can be heard many kilometers away. It is not done in anger, but generally to pronounce their presence.    The lebaowth: This is the full-grown, old stout, mighty lion that has grown into maturity and wisdom through experience. He is honored and respected by all. He may have two, three, or more wives. He lives in a pride (group). Because lions are very jealous of their territory, the prides must be kept apart. When in a lion park, they are divided by 6-7 feet high fences. Even then, they are known to have jumped over these fences, and when they do a violent fight will immediately erupt with death or injuries as the result. Among themselves in their own pride they are known or usually sociable and lived together, in parties of a dozen or more. The lion hunts by night and spends the day lying under cover in the shade of trees or rocks. After the lion has patiently stalked his prey, he makes a lightening fast charge for the kill. They operate with great cunning and skill. Because of their skill, strength and size (some average 9ft 6in including the tail and stand about 3ft at the shoulder weighing 400, 500 pounds) they are truly the king of the beasts.    Their beauty and majesty, reminds one of the mature Christian who knows who he is in God. He will guard his territory and not allow the enemy to come in and passes his inheritance which God has given him. He moves in the wisdom of experience and rules over the darkness, of night as King over all the animal nature that would victimize him and rob him of his royal possession in God. May the tribe of Judah truly grow into a maturity of the Lebaowth!    Jacob prophecies is speaking of the royalty of the tribe of Judah. It is holding to evidence the maturity level in growth as well as spirit. Giving truth to the ability of the Judahites true authority in maturity over their own as well as their enemy. The power for which he carry within his promise and ability. His acceptance of his power through perseverance, suffering and steadfast. The development of God amazing gift of assurance to the manifesting of embodiment of power which comes through them by way of Christ Jesus Moses: speaks of praise and deliverance from thy enemies. As long suffering but victory in the end. The ability to hold on in the times of trouble.  You see Jesus came preaching the Gospel of light all through the district of Zebulun and the scriptures was fulfilled here at the sea of Galilee just as the prophet Isaiah had promised. See the position of Zebulun in the wilderness promise land, millennium, and gates of the Holy City. Read Zebulun testimony as well as Issachar and Judah on the eastside. Within the understanding of each of the tribes there are particular traits that are identified. You see in studying the traits gives us and understanding of Christ Jesus mindset. Now why is that so important for the body of Christ today? What do that have to do with the Apostle Matthew? If have not yet put it together let me help you in that area.   Now before we reason together let us gather just a little more information. Which is the meaning of the words trait and character as well as characteristics. First trait: n. distinguishing feature, esp. in character {Fr. Understand I wanted to transcend your thoughts of this word “character” to a new level of awareness. To be able to focus on the spreading out of the components through out our entire being. Because this is the magnitude for which the Apostle Matthew was writing. The power within the understanding of the important issue of realizing who we are and the magnification of being transformed into what God has for our lives. The Apostle Matthew was so intone with the searching of the true nature of Our Lord and Savior that he was opened to the revelation of His word.   You see in studying the traits of himself as well as those around him and Christ Jesus he became the tool for which was used to express one of the four major characteristics of our Lord to see how He perfected the traits which is instilled within us. Each trait is a key in our understanding of a closer walk with Christ. As we see the riches in getting closer to the perfect character of Christ Jesus in our daily walk. To enhance our life in such a way that we can have victory in areas were we struggle. I am not saying we are capable of being perfect in every area of our being, but we can strive to be better each day. This is most exciting because it gives us a chance to look at ourselves and see were we are in our journey of developing our traits and the riches in growing in that area. Lets combined this information and see how it reveals the mindset of the Apostle Matthew as well as bring to life the Gospel of Matthew.   The eastside represented the three tribes (Numbers 2:3) Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun, which Judah was the lead tribe. And in those three tribes each had its own banner but all was under one standard. Fro which each tribe was holders of particular traits which developed their character. For which in the developing of the traits was not perfect for which the fulfillment of victory by Christ Jesus should have shown us the perfecting of the trait. Which gave Christ Jesus the perfect character without fault, blameless, as well all power. As you read the Apostle Matthew writing in the Gospel of Matthew see if you can see how he portrayed Jesus the King. As a ruler over all. For which the eastside represented the standard of the Lion. The Lion represents King. See if you can see the perfect traits of the three tribes as it is wrote about in the Gospel of Matthew. See if you can find such a presence in your life as well as understanding. You see the traits where Judah-wisdom, Issachar-humble, and Zebulun-compassion. As we journey together see if the magnitude of the Apostle Matthew begin to come alive as well as empower us. See if you and I pick up on the symbolic nature of the true essence of the understanding of character it takes to be King in your life. Look at how we develop our character through the evolving of our traits over a period of time. For which Christ shows us the victory in that area of understanding our kingship in Christ Jesus. We must be able to identify our traits as well as single out our weakness. As the Apostle Matthew identified the characteristics of the mental mind set of being King of Kings, Lord of Lords and with it takes to keep that victory present in our life. Notice that some traits are more dominate than others giving us representation of the generation of trail an error to perfect our character. As well as receive the riches of overcoming that area in our lives. As over looking all the information give it gives us a better sense of why the Apostle Matthew wrote the letter? Why it was necessary to write it to his nation? As well as why this particular letter was inspired by God to be put into our mailbox today for our revelation” Within the answering of those questions gives us a foundation to draw from as we benefit to study the Gospel of Matthew. As we understand that commentary means: (rootword comment) V.t. and I to make remarks, notes, and criticisms: n. a note; a collective or collection of notes; and explanation; a critical remark an observation. –ary (ka-man-te-ri) n. a series of notes; an exposition of a book; an historical narrative, running commentary, the description of an event while in actual progress, broadcast by an eyewitness. (New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus & Medical Dictionary) That gives us the ability to research as well as study the scriptures together and understand the concept of the reasoning.   So now let us just recap on the information previous studied within this commentary. First we will look at it in the order of which it would be helpful. So first let us understand that the Bible is an unfolding continuing course of events. Not a story because the word “story” means: n. history or narrative of facts or events; account; tale; legend; anecdote; plot; rumor; (Colloq) falsehood; a lie. Storied; a. told in a story; having a history. –teller n. one who tells stories [Gk historial] (New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus & Medical Dictionary) Within that definition that the Holy word of God is much more than that. It is a living testament for you and I that gives us guidance for today, from our living past, for our everlasting eternal state of Holy representation with Christ Jesus. You see you and I have to start off renewing or thinking by looking at thing through truth and light, to give us the true nature of the character of what we se. with the right site in the beginning we will start with the right prospective as well as the right place. Now once we see God’s word with the right words, we truly are set to start receiving His revelation. Secondly we learned that within the Old Testament is keys that will unlock revelation for victory within our daily walk. In order for us to come to the fullness of the riches of God’s word we must be willing to sacrifice ourselves to give or minds over to the Spirit of God. We have to crucify our fleshly desires as well as letting of our deceptive thinking and be willing to receive God’s revelation. Now once we prepare our selves we now are willing to grasp the enlighten word of God.   Now let us look at what God’s word revealed to us within this commentary. Within the separation of the tribes there were certain standards. Those standards were sustained by certain traits. Those standards represented certain characteristics that gave insight of the mind set of Christ Jesus. In order to be Lord of all people you first must represent all people by some way. Christ humble himself and left his throne and became born of flesh and carry all to the cross to carry all those to the throne. The Bible says: If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love. If any fellowship of the spirit, if any bowels and mercies. Fulfill ye my joy that ye be like minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteems other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own, things but everyman also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ, Jesus ; who, being in the form of God, though it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth: And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Wherefore, my beloved as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2: 1-12) Within those verses that Christ mind set is where we are trying to achieve as well as knowing that our salvation is upon Him. Within that we look at God’s word in truth and spirit. You see within the standards there are certain traits that was focus on within the tribes for the understanding of the character, of our Lord. For which will give us the proper mindset to work toward to receive God’s riches in that area of our lives.   In the four standards which was outlined in the old Testament, the Apostle Matthew begin to write about a particular characteristic that had great impact on those that understood it as well as implemented in their daily battle to walk upright and Holy regardless of the consequences. For example the Bible says: Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sounds of the cornet, flute, harp, sack but, psaltery, and dulcimer and all ikinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made: well but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the King, O Nebuchadnezzar we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from out of thing hand, I king. Cut if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Then Nebuchadnezzar full of fury and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego: there for he spoken and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats and their other garments, and were cast into the mindset of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the King’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. And these three men Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego fell down bound in the midst of the fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the King was astounded and rose up in haste and spake, and said unto his counsellors. Did not we cat three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king. True O king. He answered and said, Lo I see four men lose, walking in the midst of the fire and thy have no hurt: and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. (Daniel 3: 15-25) Within those scriptures we can actually see the understanding of the kingship of Christ, Jesus present in our lives, through the word of God, by the application of the understanding. We see the traits fully matured within Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. With all they did not know standing on true faith on what they knew. Let us see how.   Judah’s trait “wisdom” in the understanding who Christ is and having the correct mind set of the true nature of a King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The three Hebrew boys never forgot who they were addressing but constantly remembering who they were serving. Notice how in remembering who they were serving that they truly reverenced Him by understanding that it was God’s choice to deliver then. But if not, we understand who we are addressing but who the Hebrew boys was serving reign supreme. The Bible says: Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, answered and said to the King, O Nebuchadnezzar we are not careful ot answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace and he will deliver us out of thing hand. But if not be it known unto thee, O King that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. (Daniel 3: 16-18)   Issachar trait “Humble” noticing the understanding of Kingship that there was no need to boast or brag, just serve those that are putting into thy possession. The three Hebrew boys knew that their God was the almighty but not to exalt themselves over His decision.   Zebulun trait “Compassion” not once did the Hebrew boys lose any compassion of who they were serving regardless of the out come. There loving spirit as it matured had compassion for Our Lord and Savior that who ever stood before them to challenge their God never took the battle upon themselves. And I want you to notice that within those scripture was one of the most revealing thing of all about “Mindset” of the characteristics of a King that their very presence is felt without announcement that they are their. It is their aroma which indicates their arrival within a situation, because of the recognition by the enemy that one great has appeared. Notice this word in the scriptures “astonied”; which means (astonish v. t. to impress with sudden surprise wonder, or admiration: to strike with suffer terror: to amaze: to astound. –ed a. –ing a. –ingly adv. –ment n. {formerly, also astony, fr. O Fr. Astringe] (New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus & Medical Dictionary) Notice how the King Nebuchadnezzar ws all of a sudden feeling that something was happening as he investigated. The Bible says: And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach. And Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the King was astonied and rose up in haste, and spake and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cat three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the King, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no burnt: and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. (Daniel 3:23-25) Notice now the king knew who the Don of Man was without knowing or introduced.    That is the present spirit of truth and light working through Christ, Jesus to be recognized in any situation. Understanding that the Apostle Matthew had been revealed such a revelation that he implemented this characteristic in his daily walk. As well being a Jew he was directly linked to the tribe of such magnitude that he saw the true nature of Christ character that there was a need to write to his nation.   You see there is no mistakes in the Bible or nothing happens by chance with that there have to be a reason why the letter was written in the first place and inspired to be captured in God’ sword for us today/ That around 50-69 A. D. the Apostle Matthew wrote to the Jews about a Jew from a Jew. What was going on at that time? Paul the Apostle of Christ Jesus was teaching, preaching, and training Christ disciples for Apostle within the body of Christ. Around the same time period the Apostle Paul wrote some letters as well. As well as leading a Christian revolution within the Gentiles: 53-57. Third Missionary Journey by the Apostle Paul, at Ephesus in about 54-67 A. D.  as he wrote Corinthian Church 55 A. D. Wrote to the Roman Church the Apostle Paul around 57 A. D. as well as his arrest in Jerusalem in 57 A. D. The Apostle Paul on the island of Malta in 59 A. D. as well as arriving at Rome in 59 A.D. The Apostle Paul was imprisoning in Rome 59-62 A. D. as well as writing letters to Colossians, Philemon and Ephesians in 60 A. D. It is a s if the Christian movement was moving but there was a need for the Apostle Matthew to write about the Kingship of Christ, interesting; But it was the magnitude as well as the inspiring of God knowing our need for today but we will look more at this as we study the scriptures of the Gospel of Matthew.
